The Telling Place

'The Telling Place' was created as a legacy for the time spent in residence at Castle College Durham in 2022. The Space To Come (Gaylene and Zaynab) created a space known as 'The Telling Place' a space of healing and ritual through conversation and creation; This is where the artwork takes its name. I assisted in collecting stories and experiences while sacred knotting, embedding these conversations within the rope. Through these interactions and conversations, I brought together these elements into a ‘banner’.

Each of the symbols used reflects back a location, conversation, shared story or experience from the 3 days.
